In the midst of all the hustle and bustle of our daily lives, it is sometimes easy to forget or overlook how awesome, wonderful, and loving our God is and how much he cares for us. In Matthew 9:27 (NLT) we see “two blind men following Jesus and crying out to him, “Son of David, have mercy on us.” They were not to be denied and went right into the house where Jesus was staying. Jesus asked them, “Do you believe I can make you see?”
Why did Jesus ask the men if they believed? It is a very simple question, yet it is so profound as it is the key for each of us to receive all God has for us. We are no different than the blind men. We all have issues, we all have needs, and we all need a miracle.
Jesus asks us if we believe. Once the men answered yes, they received their miracle. We, in turn, must believe to receive our miracle. It is clear that Jesus is calling us to believe, and that believing is the key to our receiving.
We can choose to believe in Jesus or not to believe in Jesus, but what are we really doing? We are making a decision. Many times, we can get so spiritual that we miss the point. We can work to build our faith or belief, we can pray to believe more and pray to increase our faith more, but in so doing we can miss what Jesus is calling us to do. Jesus is calling us to do as the blind men did and just say “Yes.” Jesus is calling us to make a decision, to look to him, to follow him, to recognize that he is the way, the truth and the life. He is our source, our power; he is all we need.
God has provided all the power and authority we need to walk in victory. Have we made a decision to call on the power of the Holy Spirit? Do we use the name of Jesus? Do we understand that whatever we bind on earth is bound in heaven? Do we understand that we can call those things that are not as though they were?
Do we understand that we can send out the ministering angels on our behalf? Do we understand and use the blood of Jesus? Do we understand that all the glory, power, and authority that Father God gave Jesus has now been given to us? Do we really understand the “Great Commission” and all the wonderful things that God has for us?
We have to make a decision in order to receive our salvation. Let’s continue to make the decision to totally believe in Jesus! Let us do as the two blind men did and just say “yes.”
